Breakfast
The writer, Johan Steinbeck,, has written this
story “breakfast” in a very beautiful way. This story deals with the innocent
and pleasure of the members of a poor family. This family consists of four
members an old man, a young man, a woman and a little baby. They are poor
cotton pickers but they lead a very happy life because they are not against any
system or any person. They do not try to earn by unfair means.
Although they have twelve days work in their
hand, yet they are satisfied and thank God. The old man takes his breakfast and
thanks God. He says, God almighty, it’s good. We have been eating food for
twelve days.
The woman of the poor family is also very obedient and simple. She prepares breakfast carrying her baby in her moved hand. When the writer comes to them at the breakfast, they welcome him and serve him the same thing as they themselves eat. They do not cry for their poverty before him. It is the main reason that the writer always remembers them for their simplicity.

پاس بارہ دن کا کام رکھتے ہیں۔ پھر بھی وہ مطمئن ہوتے ہیں اور خدا کا شکر ادا کرتے
ہیں۔ بوڑھا آدمی ناشتا کرتا ہے اور خدا کا شکر ادا کرتا ہے۔ اور کہتا ہے کہ
"خدا سب سے بڑا ہے، یہ اچھی بات ہے کہ ہم بارہ دن سے اچھا کھا رہے ہیں"
